Devils Compete in MAC Individual Championships

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. -- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team competed in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championships this past weekend at the Ralston Athletic Complex and Kirby Park courts.

Devils' junior Nikola Radovic (Belgrade, Serbia) had the most success in the bracket and advanced to the finals in 6th singles. Radovic began his run with an 8-1 victory over John Labiak from King's. Next, the junior beat Lebanon Valley's Jon Hastings in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 and Wilkes' Dan Hackford 6-2, 6-3 to advance to the finals. Unfortunately, Radovic's run ended there as he was unable to top Wilkes' Artyom Nabokin, falling 6-0, 6-2 in the championship game.

FDU-Florham freshman Max Moscowitz (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) made an impressive run in his first MAC singles tournament. Playing second singles, the first-year standout cruised past Delaware Valley's Rafa-Rangel Lopez 8-0, before grinding out a thrilling match against Sam Calabria from Lebanon Valley College. Moscowitz claimed the second round matchup 7-6 (4) and 7-6 (5) to advance to the semifinals. With a seat in the final at stake, Moscowitz was unable to overtake Wilkes' Michael Kranz, ultimately falling in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Kranz went on to win the second singles bracket.
 
Also earning a victory over the weekend was freshman Chris Ly (Staten Island, N.Y.) Ly bested Lebanon Valley's Christian Grove 8-1 before falling to Arcadia's Darren Stochmal in round two of fourth singles.

The individual championships conclude the fall portion of the men's tennis schedule. FDU-Florham returns to play in the spring with first match set for March 1st against Drew University.
