WAYNE, NJ - The College at Florham Devils dropped their 2010 season opener to William Paterson in overtime, 1-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1.
The two squads played even throught regulation and for the first nine minutes of overtime before the Pioneers controlled possession and were able to score the game-winner at the 79:37 mark. The Devils held the advantage in the two major statistical categories, 12-7 in shots and 14-10 in corners, but just couldn't convert a goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Tess Loughran (Newton, NJ/Newton) suffered the loss in her first collegiate start, making one save.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, September 4, 2010, in the Stevenson Tournament against the College of Notre Dame of Maryland beginning at 4 pm.
