FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON AT FLORHAM

MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by cross-town rival Drew, 11-9, in the season opener for both teams in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1.

The Devils struck first, taking a 1-0 lead just 3:17 into the game when junior midfielder Sara Franckowiak (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) converted a free position shot.  Each team went back-and-forth after that and it was 3-3 with 21:26 left in the half.  The Rangers then scored three goals in a row to grab a 6-3 lead but the Devils scored three of the last four goals of the half to enter halftime trailing just 7-6.

FDU came out in the second half and immediately tied the game at 7-7 thanks to a goal by senior attack Kristen Schuster (Centereach, NY/Centereach).  Drew then scored two straight to grab a 9-7 advantage but junior midfielder Erika Depelteau (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) scored off a feed from senior attack Linda Bohn (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) to pull to 9-8 with 12:04 left in the game.  The Rangers responded though, by scoring the next two to jump out to an 11-8 lead with 5:09 left.  Junior midfielder Lindsey Parent (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) converted off a pass from Schuster with 4:32 to go but the Devils couldn't get any closer as Drew escaped with the win.

Parent finished the game with three goals while Bohn had two goals and an assist.  Franckowiak chipped in a goal and two assists.  Junior goalkeeper Kelly Butler (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) stopped six shots in the loss.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Montclair State beginning at 4 pm.
