MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils picked up their second win in as many days, this time with a 62-50 win over City Tech in non-conference action on Monday evening.
With the win, the Devils improved to 3-18.
The two squads played relatively even through the first 10:25 of the game as FDU held a 16-15 lead. The Devils then turned it on with an 11-0 run to grab a 27-15 edge with 4:49 left in the first half. Six different Devils scored in the run. FDU increased their lead to 13 points, 33-20, after a three-pointer by sophomore guard
Adam Katz (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills) with 1:09 to go but the Yellow Jackets cut it to 33-24 with 0:12 to play. Katz scored the final bucket of the half with 0:02 left on a driving layup to give the Devils a 35-24 halftime advantage.
City Tech came out inspired to begin the second stanza, closing to 35-30 before FDU exploded for a 12-2 run to take a 47-32 lead with 12:38 left in the game. Freshman guard
Alex Rosario (Bound Brook, NJ/Bound Brook) had five points in the spurt. The Jackets methodically chipped away at the FDU lead, thanks to some sloppy play by the Devils, closing to within 54-49 with 1:52 remaining. That was as close as the Devils would allow them to get though as FDU made 8-of-8 from the foul line and held City Tech to just one point for the remainder of the game to seal the win.
Katz and senior forward
Andrew Biancosino (Edison, NJ/JP Stevens) tied for a game-high 17 points while Biancosino pulled down seven rebounds and Katz had five boards. Freshman center
Derek Hall (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson) chipped in nine points and five boards.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Manhattanville beginning at 8 pm.
