Big Second Half Gives Lancaster Bible 80-67 Win Over FDU

WASHINGTON, DC - Lancaster Bible scored 51 points in the second half to erase a four-point halftime deficit on their way to an 80-67 win over the College at Florham Devils in the Consolation Game of the Catholic Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-9 on the season.

FDU jumped out to a 16-9 advantage with 7:37 gone by in the first half but Lancaster cut it to 19-18 just five minutes later.  The Devils responded with 14-5 run to take their biggest lead of the day, 33-23, with 2:57 left in the first half thanks to seven points from sophomore guard Adam Katz (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills).  Lancaster ended the half with 6-0 run to close to within 33-29 at intermission.

The Devils held a 37-33 lead just a minute into the second half but Lancaster went on a 9-0 run to grab a 42-37 lead.  FDU came back to take a 54-53 lead with 9:30 to, their last lead of the game, before Lancaster again responded, this time with a 10-3 run to grab a 63-57 edge with 6:20 to go.  The Devils cut the deficit to three points, 68-65, with 3:19 left but Lancaster closed the game with a 12-2 run to take home the third place trophy.

Katz finished the game with 11 points and was named to the All-Tournament Team while junior center Ricky Fetske (Galloway, NJ/Absegami) had 19 points and 12 rebounds.  Junior forward George Twill (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) chipped in 15 points and eight boards.

The Devils return to action on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at home against The College of New Jersey beginning at 7 pm.
