UPDATE # 13 - Winter 2002

Football

Preparation for the 2002 season is underway. The team began training on January 28, on a three day/week schedule. Each session, supervised by Coaches Klika and Curry, lasts about one hour. They are followed by agility drills done on our 2500 sq. foot agility area. In addition, the team runs sprint and speed training drills on the track two other days a week. We believe this will be the best preseason training to date at FDU.

We added a new wrinkle into the training this year. Each week, the athletes will test in a different lift, as well as in an agility or sprint test. Our new record board allows us to reward each athlete by position, not just on raw training numbers. Competition is fierce for the right to have one's name up on the record board!

Here's a sample lift week for Feb / March -

Men's Basketball

As the basketball season winds down, the team will begin its preason training in late April.

Softball

Softball in season workouts have begun. The team will stick to its 2 day/week schedule during the season.

Men's Lacrosse

Under the direction of new Coach Pat Scarpello, the lax squad will be attending organized lifting sessions for the first time in school history. Many of these athletes haven't been exposed to basic strength training before, and we look for this team to make huge gains in the next year.
